• Asylum

The wait for being granted asylum is marked by constant uncertainty, by sheer endless routines, by the struggle to keep up the faith for a brighter future whilst simultaneously gradually loosing past identities.

Trying to illustrate these observations that I have gained by spending time with and talking to asylum seekers in Brandenburg (in Hennigsdorf and Potsdam to be specific) over the period of a couple of months in 2011 has been a challenge. I still don't feel like I am anywhere near to having resolved it, so the following reportage is a rather open ended visual experiment that is accompanied by a big question mark. I have come to the conclusion that maybe that's not the worst result since the whole issue of asylum should constantly be up for debate until it is being managed in a humane way.
